Getting to Guacimo Ecolodge: Airlines flying to Nicaragua and Costa Rica
The unique charm of Guacimo Ecolodge is its remote tranquility. We are nestled amongst 50 hectares of primary and secondary forest in the Indio Maiz Biosphere Reserve buffer zone in the south of Nicaragua. However, this does not mean that Guacimo Ecolodge is difficult to get to.
At Guacimo Ecolodge we want to make your arrival as seamless as possible so that you can enjoy your holiday and the Rio San Juan. This is why we offer private transfer to our ecolodge from anywhere in Nicaragua. If you come from Costa Rica, we provide a meet & greet service at Las Tablillas border together with a 1hr 30min private boat river transfer to Guacimo Ecolodge.

Flying into Costa Rica
Most guests to Guacimo Lodge will fly to the neighboring country, Costa Rica. The international airports in Costa Rica are at Liberia (LIR), and at the capital, San José (SJO).
For European travelers Costa Rica offers more direct flight options than are available to Nicaragua.

For Candians, there are direct routes between Toronto and San Jose as well as between Montreal and San Jose.
For Europeans, San Jose is the most accessible airport. Direct flights run from London, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Zurich and Madrid. These flights typically take between 10-12 hours and tend to only run in the high season of October-April. The airlines connecting San Jose to Europe are:

Canada operates a direct flight between Calgary and Liberia which takes around 6 hours.
For Europeans, there are direct flights to Liberia from Amsterdam (run by KLM) and Zurich (run by Edelweiss Air). These flights take around 11 hours.
Flying into Nicaragua
The main airport in Nicaragua is in the capital city of Managua – Augusto Cesar Sandino International Airport (MGA).

Direct flights run daily from Miami and Houston and flight time is usually between 2.5-3.5 hours.

For Canadians, Sunwing Airlines (WG) has a direct route between Toronto and Managua.
For European travelers, there are unfortunately no direct flight options to Managua. European travelers have to transit through the USA or fly directly to Costa Rica.
For those already in Central America, there are also direct flight options available to Managua. Direct flights between Managua and San Jose (SJO) are available through SANSA airlines and Copa Airlines. Copa airlines also operates a direct flight from Panama City (PTY). If you are in Mexico City (MEX) there are direct flights to Managua run by Aeromexico.
