New infrastructure projects coming to Nicaragua

Nicaragua projects construction of road South of Lake Nicaragua

This infrastructure project, expected to be finished by 2026, will connect Cardenas with the small port of Colon in the South of lake Nicaragua, and further up to San Carlos in Rio San Juan department. Once finished, Granada and San Juan del Sur will then be as close as 2hrs 30min to 3hrs transfer time to San Carlos and the Atlantic part of Nicaragua. It will make Guacimo Lodge and other Nicaraguan Ecolodges located in remote, less-developed regions, a bit more accessible.

Solentiname Islands, river San Juan and the reserve Indio Maiz are the neighboring areas of Guacimo Lodge, and we hope to be able to show this small pieces of paradise to the visitors of our ecolodge.

Not least, Ometepe will also be much more closer as San Jorge, the main port connecting mainland with Ometepe Island, will be more accessible from Guacimo Lodge.

Altantic Nicaragua with its lowland tropical forests, distinct culture and raw nature will be closer to those visiting the Pacific side of Nicaragua.

Nicaragua projects construction of a new international airport close to Managua

The Punta Huete Airport construction project in Nicaragua is a major infrastructure development aimed at improving the country’s transportation network. This airport is expected to serve as a key hub for both domestic and international flights, enhancing connectivity for the region and boosting tourism and trade.

Punta Huete would be located close to Nicaragua’s capital, Managua, and will improve access to the southern and eastern parts of the country, some of them less developed in terms of infrastructure. We will hope that the airport allows for more direct connections with cities all over the world. Hopefully there´s a direct connection with a country in Europe, allowing to reduce airplane ticket rates for those travelling to Nicaragua.

Guacimo Lodge is located in the Atlantic part of Nicaragua, close to Indio Maiz Biosphere reserve and the historic XVII colonial fortress of El Castillo, in the shores of river San Juan.

The Eco lodge offers wildlife tours & activities to Indio Maiz, the river San Juan and El Castillo, mixing raw nature and history.
